The results of various 2024 national examinations have been successively announced, and students and alumni of the Department of Law at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) have achieved remarkable success. According to the department’s statistics, two alumni or current graduate students have passed the Judicial Officer Examination. In contrast, 29 students have passed the Bar Examination, including an unprecedented seven first-time examinees who succeeded in their initial attempt, setting a new record. Additionally, in the cultivation of interdisciplinary talent, three double-major students from NCHU successfully passed the Bar Examination in 2023, and this year, three more students—majoring in Soil and Water Conservation, Chinese Literature, and Physics—who pursued a double major in Law have passed the exam.
Other judicial personnel examinations have also seen outstanding results. A total of eight students have passed the Grade 3 Senior Civil Service Examination in various legal fields (Legal Affairs, Financial and Economic Affairs, and Legal System categories), one student has passed the Special Examination for Investigation Officers (Legal Practice category), three students have passed the Prosecutorial Affairs Officers Examination (Investigation Practice category), two students have passed the Judicial Affairs Officers Examination (Legal Affairs category), and 30 students have passed the Grade 4 Court Clerk Examination, including three current undergraduate seniors.
To strengthen students’ theoretical and practical legal skills, the Department of Law at NCHU has been committed to curriculum reform in recent years, launching a comprehensive range of courses that balance academic research with practical experience. With the support of funding from the Higher Education Sprout Project, the department has introduced numerous professional internship courses, innovative courses, and interdisciplinary programs. These initiatives allow students to engage in advanced practical work and internships, enhancing their professional capabilities. Since September 2023, the department has held its first case-based practical lecture series, inviting scholars and industry experts to analyze significant legal issues and case studies. This initiative aims to cultivate case-oriented thinking among students, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in national examinations and future legal practice, laying a solid foundation for producing outstanding legal professionals.
Moreover, NCHU has actively promoted interdisciplinary and cross-departmental learning in recent years. The Department of Law, recognizing the value of this approach, has welcomed students from various disciplines to develop legal expertise, achieving consistently excellent teaching outcomes.
