💡 Note from the College Office: The application for the "NSTC Graduate Research Fellowship" was previously announced on June 15, 2026. This current announcement is for the MOE Doctoral Scholarship, which is specifically for domestic, non-employed doctoral students. Eligible students who have secured a matching fund source are welcome to apply. (Note: If you are awarded both scholarships, you can only choose ONE to receive).
1. Recipient Eligibility & Restrictions
(1) Eligibility: Domestic doctoral students in their 1st to 3rd year who are not currently employed (excluding international students). The student’s year level is based on the academic records from the Office of Academic Affairs.
(2) The following individuals are not eligible to receive this fellowship:
A. Those who are engaged in full-time paid employment in public or private sectors or who apply for admission as part-time students possessing responsibilities related to employment.
B. Those who have applied for leave of absence and retained their admission eligibility or have not completed registration after admission.
C. Those who are concurrently in receipt of doctoral scholarship offered by NSTC.
2. Fellowship Amount & Matching Funds
Amount:
(1) Fixed subsidy: The total monthly subsidy for each doctoral student shall be NT$40,000.
NT$30,000 from the MOE and NT$10,000 jointly subsidized by universities and businesses.
University and Enterprise Matching Funds provide a monthly subsidy of NT$10,000. These are divided into the following three categories:
A. University Matching Funds for the Full Scholarship
(a) First-year PhD students:
Applicants who enroll as first-year PhD students and have previously been awarded an NSTC Undergraduate Student Research Project during their studies at NCHU shall be eligible for a scholarship for a period of three years. Continued receipt of the scholarship for each subsequent academic year is subject to passing the annual evaluation.
(b) Second-year PhD students (those approved for this category of funding in Academic Year 2025):
Recipients must pass the annual evaluation in order to continue receiving the scholarship in the following academic year.
B. University Matching Funds for One-half of the Scholarship, with the Remaining One-half Provided by the Academic Advisor or an Industry Partner
Outstanding applicants selected through the review process shall be awarded the scholarship for a period of three years. Continued receipt of the scholarship for each subsequent academic year is subject to passing the annual evaluation. The number of recipients approved under this category shall not exceed 20% of the scholarship quota allocated to NCHU by the MOE.
C. Doctoral Students in Years 1 to 3 Not Covered by (1) or (2):
A monthly subsidy of NT$10,000 will be jointly provided by the student’s advisor or an enterprise.
3. Application Submission Process
Applicants must complete BOTH hard copy and electronic submissions before the deadline:
Hard Copy: Submit the original application form (with required signatures and stamps) to Ms. Chiu at the College of Law and Politics Office (Room 540, Social Sciences and Management Building).
Electronic Copy: Email one combined PDF file (including the application form and all supporting attachments) to yashih@nchu.edu.tw.
⚠️ Important Reminder: Students who received this scholarship in Academic Year 2025 (as 1st or 2nd-year students) MUST re-apply for this academic year. Please format your documents strictly according to the college regulations.
4. Required Documents Checklist
(1) Application Form (Download from the ORD website).
(2) Official Academic Transcripts: Master's degree transcripts for 1st-year PhD students; Doctoral degree transcripts for 2nd/3rd-year PhD students.
(3)Research and Career Development Proposal: Max 10 pages (including references), written in either Chinese or English. Any research plan with more than 10 pages shall NOT be reviewed.
(4) Other Supporting Materials (Certificates, publications, or documents helpful for evaluation).
